This study aims to analyze the structure of leading industrialization in the development of industrial areas in Karawang Regency, West Java, which has transformed from an agrarian region into one of Indonesia’s largest modern industrial centers. This transformation has been driven by strategic geographical advantages, the availability of supporting infrastructure, and increasing manufacturing sector investment. Nevertheless, rapid industrial development has also generated various challenges, including disparities among industrial sectors, environmental pressures, and the need to ensure sustainable development. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation studies involving local government institutions, industrial estate managers, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and other relevant sources. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing to provide a comprehensive description of the industrialization structure and leading sectors in Karawang Regency. The findings are expected to identify industrial sectors that contribute significantly to regional economic growth, employment generation, investment attraction, and regional development. Furthermore, this study seeks to provide a clearer understanding of the dynamics of industrialization and its implications for regional competitiveness. The results are also expected to serve as a reference for policymakers in formulating effective, inclusive, and sustainable industrial development strategies that balance economic growth, social welfare, and environmental preservation.
